Whitehall Gold-Bronze 46" Eagle Weathervane - 00428
OK, my first review of this wasn't so good, the instructions were not good enough and a part broke during assembly. I contacted the seller and they put me in touch with the manufacturer who helped me with the instructions and is sending a replacement for the broken part.Just to be clear on this item - the shaft is separated by 3 banded segments, the large ball rests on the bottom band which has a squared shaft, the directionals rest on the middle band which has a round shaft, and the small ball rests on the top band which also has a round shaft.Having said that, the item is rather cheaply made of cheap materials, the metal items are a lightweight potted metal and not cast iron as it looks to be, and the balls are a cheap and very thin plastic. Not at all worth even half what I paid for it (should be a $25-$30 item max), and probably won't last very long either. I expect to have to replace or repaint it in a couple or three years.

They can also be mounted on a deck and are ideal for mounting onto a smaller raised structure such as a garage, gazebo or shed. This item is made of copper. This product's figure has dimensions: 13" x 6" x 8". The directional component is 21" long. It weighs 7 pounds.
I like the product, but it had no directions and came with the wrong mount.

I ordered this weathervane on Thursday and it arrived today. It looks really nice. But I discovered that a roof or eave mount is required also. I sure wish the on-line production description would have said that a mount was also required. Now I have to wait 10-14 days as expedited shipping isn't available for the mount. :-(

The Flying Pig Weathervane is available in polished copper and brass or a blue verde aluminum finish. The unlikely flying pig bounding atop this weathervane measures 24" L x 19" H x 12" W. I have had this mounted on the peak of my garage for a couple of years. The installation was very quick. It comes with a support to attach the pole to. It adjustas to the pitch of the roof and is easily screwed in place. The pig is hollow, but must be fairly sturdy as it is holding up well. While originally shiny copper, it now has a burnished patina. As it gets fairly windy here, this little pig really does fly. I always get a kick when I see it whirling around in a frenzy. It is a totally cute, non-traditional weather vane. This little piggy has a big smile, cute twisted tail, and wings that look heaven sent.The only negative is that it used to squeak when moving. I had my husband spray some lubricant on the post and the problem has been eliminated.

Perfect item ... how do you attach it to the roof? The last pig vane I bought came w/ a mounting device, so I assume (wrongly) that all pig vane's were sold equally. Oh well ... off to find a way to attach the flying pig to the barn roof.
